Holy Week in Atlixco, Mexico

A Catholic penitent drags chains, attached to his legs, during the Holy week procession in Atlixco, Mexico, 30 March 2018. Wearing heavy chains on their shoulders covered with prickling cacti while being burned by the hot midday sun, they recall Jesus Christ’s death by crucifixion and demonstrate their religiosity and faith.
